Head Outside Award Winners 2023

Sam Hill Rising Star Award 2023

This year's winner, Marlon Patrice, founded @wegooutsidetoo with a mission close to his heart. After tragically losing his son to knife crime amid the pandemic, Marlon was inspired to create a platform that fosters a connection between the Black community in Birmingham and the rejuvenating effects of nature. His goal is not only to break down barriers but also to cultivate unity within the community. Sam's family deeply respects Marlon's unwavering resilience and unwavering dedication to his cause.

Jess, Sam’s sister has these words to say “In October this year, it was 5 years since Sam died by suicide. Grief is something that no one is prepared for but grief has helped me find my voice and for one man, his grief has taken him on an incredible journey. His love for the outdoors and his love for his son has opened up the great outdoors to communities who may not have had access to it in their daily lives by creating We Go Outside Too.

How do we beat the Monday Blues ? With Belstaff

"Blue Monday" is the third Monday in January known for being the most depressing day of the year.

Here are five things we do at @wegooutsidetoo to feel better during tough times:

1. Running uphill boosts our mood and makes us feel alive.

2. Spending time in nature and deep breathing helps reduce anxiety.

3. Exploring art in local galleries inspires us and reminds us of the world's beauty.

4. Treating ourselves to cake and herbal tea lifts our spirits.

5. Writing gratitude lists helps us appreciate the good things in life and find joy in everyday moments.

Post-holiday blues and winter gloom can affect everyone, but focusing on the positive and finding happiness in small things can make a difference. Let's face each day with gratitude and hope for the future.
